Website structure for home service companies

Service and City Architecture: a page for every job and every town that matters

Google can only show a page that exists. If your site lists every service on one page, Google has nothing to show for "water heater replacement" or "roof repair in Owasso". Service and City Architecture is how we plan and build the pages that match what customers search, without crossing into the doorway pages Google penalizes.

  • From $600 a month
  • Free audit first
  • Month-to-month. 90-day call guarantee. No lock-in.
  • One page per job, one per worthwhile town

Why one page for everything does not work

A single services page asks Google to rank one URL for a dozen different searches, and it rarely wins any of them. A page about one service answers one question well, so it has a chance.

Town pages work the same way, with a catch. Google's spam policies call near-identical pages with only the town name changed doorway abuse. A town page has to say something true and specific about working there, or it should not exist.

In our October 2026 audit of 20 Tulsa contractor websites, 17 avoided near-duplicate town pages. But 19 of the 20 did not name the places they serve in their structured data, and 18 listed no service prices in it. Most sites were neither spamming nor telling search engines clearly what they sell and where.

What the Tulsa audit found

  • 17 of 20 had no near-duplicate town pages
  • 19 of 20 named no service areas in structured data
  • 18 of 20 listed no prices in structured data
  • Our own data on a small group of sites in one city

What we plan and build

We decide the structure first, then write every page by hand with details from your real jobs.

What is included

  • A service map. Which jobs get their own page, ranked by what pays best and what customers search
  • Service pages. One per job, with a direct answer at the top, a price range, timelines, process, and proof
  • A town plan. Which towns deserve a page, because you do real work there, people search for it and you have something specific to say
  • Town pages with local detail. Real jobs, housing and local conditions, permits, reviews from that town and answers to local questions
  • Internal links. A clear path from your home page to services to towns, so Google and visitors can follow it
  • Structured data. LocalBusiness and Service markup naming your services, areas and prices, matched to the visible text
  • Clean URLs and titles. Short, consistent and written for the search, not stuffed with keywords
  • Phone-first layout. Tap-to-call and proof on the first screen of every page

How the work runs

For most contractors the right answer is a few strong pages, not hundreds of thin ones.

Four steps

  1. Map. We list your services and towns and decide which pages are worth building first.
  2. Write. Each page is written from your real jobs, photos and reviews, with a direct answer at the top.
  3. Connect. We add internal links and structured data, and check that Google can crawl and index every page.
  4. Expand. New pages roll out in priority order as you collect more jobs and reviews in each area.

How you can see it working

Pages take time to be crawled, indexed and ranked, so we measure the early signals first and calls and booked jobs after.

What we report

  • Pages indexed and appearing in Search Console, with impressions by page
  • Searches that bring each service and town page into view
  • Calls and form requests from each page
  • Structured data tested and error free
  • Pages published each month against the plan

Questions about Service and City Architecture

What is service and city page architecture?

It is the plan for which pages your site needs: one for each main service, one for each town worth targeting, and the links and structured data that connect them. A clear structure gives Google and visitors a direct page for each search.

Do city pages still work, or are they spam?

Both can be true. Google's spam policies treat near-identical pages with only the town changed as doorway abuse. A page that tells a homeowner in that town something specific and useful, such as local jobs, permit rules and reviews, does not break the rules.

How many town pages does a contractor need?

For most contractors, three to eight pages, not fifty. We start with the towns where you already do the most work, because that is where you have the most to say.

Do I need a new website for this?

Usually not. Most sites can add the pages and structured data they are missing without being rebuilt. The free audit shows whether your site can hold the new pages.

What structured data do you add?

LocalBusiness and Service markup that names your services, service areas and price ranges, matched to the text visible on the page. Google says markup has to match visible content, and that it does not guarantee any feature will appear.

How long until the new pages bring calls?

Pages must be crawled, indexed and ranked first. That usually takes weeks to months depending on competition, so we track impressions first and calls after.
